Every relief on the walls is unique!<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"727\" data-end=\"909\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">Such day trips are ideal if you want to see a lot without having to figure everything out yourself.<\/p>\n<h2 data-section-id=\"dxz618\" data-start=\"1242\" data-end=\"1277\">Chamundi Hills &amp; Nandi &amp; temple<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"118\" data-end=\"438\">For one of the most beautiful views over Mysore, I decided to climb Chamundi Hill \u2013 one of the holiest places in the city. You can drive there by car, but I chose to take the traditional route: on foot, via the staircase with about 1,000 steps. It&#8217;s a bit of a workout, but absolutely worth it.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"440\" data-end=\"654\">Halfway up you&#8217;ll pass an enormous statue of Nandi, Shiva&#8217;s sacred bull. He sits there calm and impressive, like a kind of guardian of the mountain. The atmosphere is both lively and spiritual. And then: the view. From the top you can see all of Mysore below you \u2013 the palace glistens in the distance, Karanji Lake lies like a blue spot in the landscape, and the surrounding valleys are surprisingly green.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"997\" data-end=\"1164\">Tip: Go early in the morning to beat the heat and catch the sunrise \u2013 magical and quieter in terms of crowds. Be sure to bring water and good shoes!<\/p>\n<h2 data-section-id=\"g2q20w\" data-start=\"1360\" data-end=\"1397\">Jaganmohan Palace &amp; St. Philomena<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"134\" data-end=\"533\">One of the places where I really paused for a moment was Jaganmohan Palace. This former palace is now a museum, and inside I found an impressive collection of Indian paintings, art objects and historical memorabilia. What touched me most was the serene atmosphere \u2013 it almost felt like walking through a quiet time capsule. The tall towers, the stained glass windows and the imposing neo-Gothic architecture made me feel like I was in Europe for a moment, right in the middle of South India. The contrast with the temples I saw earlier made it extra special.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"844\" data-end=\"1055\">Tip: Combine both places in one morning \u2013 they&#8217;re a reasonable distance from each other, and along the way you&#8217;ll also see a lot of daily life in Mysore. And&#8230; go early to beat the heat and crowds!<\/p>\n<h2 data-section-id=\"15ysv0u\" data-start=\"1561\" data-end=\"1603\">Sand Sculpture Museum &amp; Railway Museum<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1604\" data-end=\"1765\"><span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\">The Sand Sculpture Museum near Chamundi Hill is unique. One of the first in the world, full of giant sand figures about Mysore culture, spirituality and nature; plus a 3D selfie gallery \u2013 super fun.<\/span> <span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\">I also visited the Railway Museum, with vintage locomotives and even a mini toy train ride\u2014ideal for families and an original twist in my Mysore holiday. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2 data-section-id=\"1bj9ua9\" data-start=\"1767\" data-end=\"1802\">Brindavan Gardens &amp; fountain show<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1803\" data-end=\"1883\"><span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\">In the evening I can definitely recommend going to the Brindavan Gardens, just outside the city. The neatly landscaped gardens and especially the musical fountain show at sunset&#8230; truly magical!
