But remember this name well, because Tirana<\/strong>, the amazing capital of Albania, is totally up-and-coming. Located in the west of the country, a stone’s throw from the Adriatic Sea and less than three hours’ flight from the Netherlands or Belgium (and often dirt cheap!), Tirana is the surprising city trip you didn’t have on your radar yet \u2013 but won’t forget anytime soon. From the Netherlands or Belgium, you can fly there in just a few hours \u2013 often for a very reasonable price too. Sun lover? Culture fan? Looking for something new, creative, colourful? Tirana has something for everyone. You’ll find wide boulevards, Soviet architecture and modern buildings all jumbled together, interspersed with cosy terraces, street art and green city parks. Tirana bursts with energy and creativity \u2013 and you can see that reflected in the hip caf\u00e9s, art galleries and alternative shops. Also nice: Tirana is relatively compact, so you can explore almost everything on foot or by bike. Moreover, Albanians are incredibly hospitable and proud of their capital. So expect warm encounters and good coffee, because drinking coffee is serious business here. Albanians love a small, strong espresso.<\/p>\n
