The monument depicts an intimate embrace between an Italian soldier and a Ukrainian woman. They met during World War II in a concentration camp in Austria when they were young and fell in love. The war brought them together but also tore them apart. After not seeing each other for about 60 years, the Italian <em>Luigi<\/em> enlisted the help of a TV show. Their beautiful reunion was broadcast on television and subsequently immortalized in the sculpture called Eternal Love.
