The Town Musicians
This bronze statue is the symbol of the city and should definitely be included in your Bremen attractions route. The Town Musicians consist of a donkey, a dog, a cat, and a rooster, and they come from the fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm. This quartet was on their way to Bremen to start a better life as town musicians.
You can find this statue right in the city center, next to the town hall. Have you found the Town Musicians? Grab the donkey’s front legs, as they say it brings good luck!

St. Petri Cathedral
The dark St. Petri Cathedral in Gothic style is unmissable with its two tall towers surrounding Marktplatz. From the outside, it may look like a gloomy church, but inside there is much to admire. The cathedral dates back to the early 13th century, and you can climb the two towers for a stunning view over the city. The cathedral also has a beautiful garden where you can relax and enjoy a cup of coffee with a German pastry.
Marktplatz
You can’t skip this square, as it is surrounded by many historical buildings to admire. Marktplatz is the heart of the city, full of vibrancy. The aforementioned Town Musicians are located here, as well as the famous Roland Town Hall, which you can read more about below.
Around Marktplatz, you’ll find Renaissance buildings like Bürgerschaft, Schütting, and the adjacent structures. Toss a coin into Bremer Loch and hear the sound of the Town Musicians. The proceeds go to the Wilhelm-Kaisen-Bürgerhilfe charity.

Bunker Valentin
In the north of Bremen, outside the city center, you can visit Bunker Valentin. This is a memorial site where more than 10,000 forced laborers worked during World War II. Here, you can learn about the history of the bunker and the forced laborers. The bunker covers 35,000 square meters, making it the largest bunker in Germany. You can easily reach the bunker from the city center by public transport.

Roland Town Hall
You must add this town hall to your Bremen attractions route and take the time to stop here, as it is the only one in all of Europe still standing from the late Middle Ages. This town hall is also part of UNESCO’s cultural World Heritage. Attached to the town hall is the 600-year-old Roland statue, symbolizing freedom and trade rights. You can also find this at the famous Marktplatz!
