This monument comes with a poignant story. During World War II, the Jewish Anne Frank and her family hid in the annex, the house now known as the Anne Frank House. You can view the kitchen, bedroom, other living spaces, and of course the world-famous bookcase that is the entrance to the Secret Annex.
From early November to late March, the Anne Frank House is open from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM. From April 1 to late October, the opening hours are 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, and on Saturdays and in the summer months of July and August always until 10:00 PM.

The Rijksmuseum
Amsterdam, the capital of our beautiful country. The Netherlands has existed for many years, bringing with it a lot of history. The Rijksmuseum is the museum of the Netherlands that you must visit at least once.
This museum tells the story of 800 years of Dutch art and history, from 1200 to the present. Here, about 8,000 objects take you from the Middle Ages to Mondrian. Various works by Dutch Masters such as Rembrandt and Vermeer can be admired here.
The opening hours are the same throughout the year, namely every day from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Tickets are 30.00 euros each, and children up to 18 years old have free access to the museum.

The canal belt
The Amsterdam canal belt consists of four main rings: the Singel, Herengracht, Keizersgracht, and Prinsengracht. Together they form a semicircular network around the old city center. This area was constructed in the 17th century during the Golden Age and has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2010.

Vondelpark Amsterdam
Vondelpark is the most famous park in Amsterdam, located between the Museumplein and the Oud-Zuid district. It covers over 45 hectares and attracts both locals and tourists looking to relax or be active.
Here you can walk, cycle, jog, or simply sit on a bench and people-watch. Throughout the park, you’ll find playgrounds, ponds, flowerbeds, and a few notable sculptures, such as that of Joost van den Vondel – the poet after whom the park is named.
For children, there are several playgrounds and plenty of space to run or have a picnic. There’s also an open-air theater where free performances are held in the summer, ranging from music and dance to comedy.
Feeling hungry? There are several cafes, kiosks, and terraces in the park where you can grab a bite or a drink. Especially on sunny days, it’s lively and bustling here.
The Red Light District
The much-discussed Red Light District in Amsterdam, also known as ‘De Wallen’ or ‘Rosse Buurt’, is perhaps one of the most mysterious places in Amsterdam. The Red Light District is spread over several streets in the oldest part of our capital, in the city center.
Despite its reputation as the place to find prostitutes, the Red Light District has more to offer than just that! In the surrounding streets, various attractions are hidden, and there are plenty of things to do.

Johnny Jordaanplein
At the corner of the Elandsgracht in the Jordaan lies the Johnny Jordaanplein, a small but special square dedicated to the Amsterdam folk song. Here stand bronze statues of folk singers such as Johnny Jordaan, Tante Leen, Manke Nelis, and accordionist Johnny Meijer — artists who made Jordaan music famous in the ’50s and ’60s.
The square is a tribute to the folk culture of Amsterdam and is within walking distance of the 9 Straatjes. On the facades, you can see song lyrics like “De parel van de Jordaan,” and you regularly hear music from the speakers. A lovely spot for a short stop during your walk through the neighborhood.

The NEMO Science Museum
The NEMO Science Museum is the interactive museum of Amsterdam, where you learn about science and technology through play. It is located on the IJ, near Central Station, and is easily recognizable by the large green building that resembles a ship.
Inside, you’ll find five floors full of interactive exhibitions. You can conduct experiments, generate electricity, build with gears, or discover how your brain works. From gravity to artificial intelligence – everything is explained in a way that’s fun for both children and adults.
On the rooftop terrace, you also have a beautiful view of the city, and in the summer, it’s a nice place to sit or have a drink.

Leidseplein
Leidseplein is one of the most famous squares in Amsterdam, located at the edge of the city center, close to Vondelpark and Museumplein. During the day, you’ll see street performers, tourists, and cyclists weaving through the area. At night, the square transforms into a lively nightlife spot.
Around the square, you’ll find theaters like Stadsschouwburg Amsterdam, music venues such as Melkweg and Paradiso, and countless cafes, bars, and restaurants. This makes it a popular place to meet up or start a night out.
Even during the day, there’s plenty to do here. The square itself always has something to see, from music to street art. In the side streets, you’ll find shops, boutiques, and eateries for every budget. And if you need a break, you can easily stroll into Vondelpark.
Leidseplein is easily accessible by tram. From Amsterdam Central Station, you can take tram 2 or 12 (stop Leidseplein), or trams 1 and 17 from other parts of the city. The stop is right at the square, so you practically step out at the door. Note: it can be busy here, especially on weekends and summer evenings.
The Stedelijk Museum

The Albert Cuyp Market is open from Monday to Saturday, roughly from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. You can easily reach the market by tram 4, 12, or 24 (stop ‘Albert Cuypstraat’).
Johan Cruijff Arena
The Johan Cruijff Arena is the largest stadium in the Netherlands and the home of AFC Ajax. Located in Amsterdam-Zuidoost, it can accommodate over 54,000 spectators. Besides football matches, it also hosts large concerts and events.
The stadium is named after the legendary Johan Cruijff and features a modern design with a retractable roof and a sliding field. This allows it to be used for a variety of events – from Champions League nights to performances by artists like Beyoncé, Coldplay, and The Weeknd.

The 9 Streets
The 9 Streets form a charming neighborhood in the middle of Amsterdam’s canal belt, between the Singel and the Prinsengracht. These streets cross the canals and connect the main streets of the Jordaan and the city center. Their names? Reestraat, Hartenstraat, Gasthuismolensteeg, Berenstraat, Wolvenstraat, Oude Spiegelstraat, Runstraat, Huidenstraat, and Wijde Heisteeg.
In this area, you’ll find a mix of small boutiques, vintage shops, design stores, and art galleries. It’s the place to be if you’re looking for something different from big chains. From handmade jewelry and second-hand fashion to art books and local brands – you can spend hours browsing here.
The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting. Between shopping, there are plenty of spots to pause for coffee, lunch, or a drink. The cafes and restaurants in this area are as varied as the shops: from organic sandwich shops to Asian street food and classic bistros.
