1. The Duomo di Milano
First things first. You simply can’t leave the Italian cathedral city without at least touching the Duomo. This cathedral is the attraction – Milan owes its fame to this tower. And a visit to see the overwhelming interior is a must, of course. Don’t expect too much from the surrounding streets, though. These are dominated by touristy eateries and souvenir shops.

2. Parco Sempione
Had enough of the city hustle? Parco Sempione offers the perfect escape. Stock up on treats from the local bakery and butcher and head into the park with (or without) a blanket.
The remarkably large Sempione park (47 hectares) is located behind the Sforza Castle, a stone’s throw from the city’s historic center. 4. Santa Maria delle Grazie
The Gothic church Santa Maria delle Grazie is an interesting building in itself, but it’s famous because of a painting. Not just any artwork, but one of the Milan attractions that makes this destination worthwhile for many: Leonardo da Vinci’s Last Supper. Cenacolo Vinciano, as the Italians call it, was completed between 1495 and 1497. Santa Maria delle Grazie has suffered destruction several times, but time and again restorers have managed to restore Da Vinci’s masterpiece to its former glory.

This museum houses the collection of Gian Giacome Poldi-Pezzoli, who began collecting art in the mid-19th century. 7. Torre Branca

10. Castello Sforzesco
In the middle of the city lies an imposing castle, the Castello Sforzesco. Its origins date back to the mid-14th century when the Visconti family built a fort on this site. A century later, it was completely rebuilt by the fourth Duke of Milan, Francesco Sforza.
