De Praagse Burcht / Pražský hrad
Een van de meest indrukwekkende bezienswaardigheden in Praag is de Praagse Burcht, ook wel bekend als Pražský hrad in het Tsjechisch.
De Burcht van Praag is eigenlijk geen burcht of kasteel maar een verzameling kerken, paleizen, torens, tuinen en een bonte menigte toeristen.
De Praagse Burcht is zeer waarschijnlijk het grootste kasteelcomplex ter wereld, niet zo zeer de burcht zelf, maar het gebied rond Praszký Hrad. Alleen de voorzijde al is een halve kilometer lang. Toch is het burchtcomplex op sommige dagen te klein voor de talrijke toeristen want jaarlijks stromen er meer dan één miljoen bezoekers door het enorme Praszký Hrad complex.

Koop je toc je toegang tot een eeuwenoud symbool van Tsjechië en een van de belangrijkste culturele instellingen van de Tsjechische Republiek. Dit historische complex was ooit het centrum van het Heilige Roomse Rijk. Tegenwoordig dient de Praagse Burcht als residentie van de Tsjechische president en de bewaarplaats van de kroonjuwelen.
Tip: Zorg dat je op tijd bent, want de gids bewaart het kaartje slechts 15 minuten na de starttijd. De beste manier om het kasteel te bereiken is via de zij-ingang, op slechts 10 minuten lopen van het Malostranská metrostation.

Neem lijn 22 en stap uit bij halte Pražský hrad. Sla linksaf en je bereikt binnen 5 minuten de tweede binnenplaats van de Praagse Burcht.
Karelsbrug / Karlův most
Een van de meest populaire bezienswaardigheden in Praag is de Karelsbrug (in het Tsjechisch ook wel “Karlův most”). De bijna 700 jaar oude brug verbindt de Oude Stad van Praag met de wijk Malá Strana in de Nieuwe Stad van Praag en ligt over de Moldau. De brug is ongeveer 520 meter lang en heeft 30 standbeelden waar heiligen op afgebeeld staan. Op de brug vind je naast de vele toeristen ook kunstenaars die hun waren aan de man hopen te brengen. Deze bezienswaardigheid verbindt de oude en nieuwe stad van Praag, erg leuk!
Het Oude Stadsplein / Staroměstskě námĕstí
Het oude Stadsplein is een van de trekpleisters van Praag. Zodra je op het plein loopt zie je meerdere bouwwerken uit verschillende periodes. Zo krijg je een fantastische mix van tijden gecombineerd op één plein. Vanaf ieder punt op het oude Stadsplein lijkt het alsof het plein een ander uiterlijk heeft. Je vindt hier ook meerdere restaurants en barretjes waar je lekker geniet van een drankje en de heerlijke ambiance.

St. Vitus Cathedral
Part of the Prague Castle, St. Vitus Cathedral is one of the most impressive buildings within the complex. The 99-meter high tower and the vast nave that forms the skeleton of the building were intended to create the largest cathedral in the world. Construction began in the early 14th century, and most of what you see has stood for over 600 years. You don’t have to be religious to appreciate this cathedral.

Golden Lane
Perhaps the most popular attraction in Prague. This Golden Lane is a rather small alley within the northern wall of Prague Castle. There’s little gold in the lane itself, but legend has it that goldsmiths once lived here, giving the lane its name. The houses in this street mainly serve as souvenir shops but were once residential homes. Even Franz Kafka, arguably the greatest writer of the 20th century, lived briefly at number 22.

Prague astronomical clock
The astronomical clock sounds futuristic, and perhaps it was, 600 years ago when it was built. With three rotating disks, it is a complex mechanism. It displays five different times, including sidereal time, solar time, and local time.
Whatever the time, the Prague astronomical clock is an impressive structure well worth a visit.
The Dancing House
Not all Prague attractions are 600 years old. There is a significant Art Nouveau movement in Prague, and Frank Gehry’s Dancing House is a prime example. This building in the New Town is described as constructivist. This is a branch within Art Nouveau that perceives society as confusing and uncertain. The artists clearly reflect this in their designs. The Dancing House is unlike other houses. The shapes are unique, and it indeed seems as if the house is dancing.

Jan Hus
Jan Hus was a Czech theologian and philosopher who lived in Prague in the 15th century. He was one of the key figures of the Bohemian Reformation and opposed the corruption of the Catholic Church.
Hus preached at the Týn Church in Prague, and his sermons attracted many followers. He criticized the church’s practices, including the sale of indulgences and the mandatory celibacy for priests. He advocated for church reform and believed that the Bible was the sole authority for Christian faith.
In 1415, Hus was condemned for heresy by church authorities and burned at the stake. His death led to an uprising in Bohemia and was a precursor to the Protestant Reformation in Europe. Today, Hus is remembered as a national hero in the Czech Republic and a symbol of religious freedom and resistance to oppression.
Jewish Quarter Josefov & Old-New Synagogue
The Jewish Quarter in Prague, also known as Josefov, is a historic district that was once the center of the Jewish community in the city. During World War II, the district was used by the Nazis as a ghetto, and many Jewish residents were deported to concentration camps.
Today, the district has been restored and houses several important Jewish monuments, including six synagogues and the cemetery of the old Jewish community. The district is also home to the Jewish Museum of Prague, which highlights the history and culture of the Jewish community in the city.
The Old-New Synagogue in Prague is the oldest surviving synagogue in Europe within this district. It is an important monument of the Jewish Quarter in Prague and a popular tourist attraction. The synagogue is built in Gothic style and has a rich history, including the legend of the Golem of Prague.
During World War II, the synagogue was used as a storage place for stolen Jewish artworks and possessions. The Old-New Synagogue is a symbol of the Jewish community in Prague and a reminder of the history of Jews in Europe.
Letná Park
Letná Park is a beautiful park in Prague located atop the Letná hill, overlooking the Vltava River. The park features numerous walking paths, green lawns, and a large number of trees. It is a popular spot for walkers, joggers, and cyclists, offering a spectacular view of the city. The park also hosts several attractions, such as the Letná Metronome.
The Letná Metronome is a gigantic metronome situated on Letná hill in Prague.
