🤖 Let ChatGPT summarise ‘The best things to do in Dubai’
Dubai: a world city in the desert
Dubai is located in the United Arab Emirates, on the Persian Gulf, and has grown into one of the most impressive cities in the world. What immediately struck me is how futuristic and traditional it is at the same time. You’ll find ultra-modern architecture, luxury hotels and gigantic shopping centres, but also historic neighbourhoods and traditional markets.
The weather in Dubai is almost always sunny. In summer it’s hot (sometimes over 45 degrees!), so many people choose to go in winter or spring. Think temperatures around 25 to 30 degrees – perfect beach weather.

What to do in Dubai?
If you’re going on holiday to Dubai, you obviously don’t want to miss anything. Here are some of my favourite activities and things to do in Dubai:
1. Visit the Burj Khalifa
The world’s tallest tower is an absolute must. Definitely go to the observation platforms on floors 124 and 125. Book your Burj Khalifa tickets in advance to avoid long queues. Also read my detailed blog about the Burj Khalifa.

2. Museum of the Future
One of the most impressive museums I’ve ever been to! The exterior is already a work of art in itself, and inside you literally step into the future. Definitely a must-do if you’re into technology and innovation. Get your tickets here: Museum of the Future.
3. The View at The Palm
This observation deck gives you an incredible view over Palm Jumeirah – the famous palm-shaped island group. I recommend going around sunset for the best photos. Book in advance via: The View at The Palm because this is an incredibly popular attraction and when it’s full, it’s full!

4. Atlantis Aquaventure Waterpark
Are you in Dubai with children? Then this waterpark is a guaranteed success. For adults too, by the way, because some of the slides are pretty intense. Buy your tickets here: Aquaventure Waterpark.
5. Historic Dubai
Don’t forget old Dubai either! In the Deira district it feels like you’re stepping back in time. You stroll past traditional shops, colourful spice markets and the famous gold souks, where gold literally reaches up to the ceiling. Did you know that the world’s largest gold jewellery piece was sold here? Definitely take a trip on an abra – a traditional wooden boat – across the Dubai Creek. For just a few dirhams you sail from one side of the city to the other. Simple, local and super fun to do. It’s a nice change from all the gleaming skyscrapers and shopping centres.

6. The best activity: a bike tour through Dubai with Baja Bikes
Did you know you can also explore Dubai perfectly by bike? I did a bike tour with Baja Bikes and this was such an incredibly cool experience! Together with a local guide you cycle past amazing places like Jumeirah Beach, the Burj Al Arab and Madinat Jumeirah. You learn an enormous amount about the city in a short time, without sitting in traffic or getting lost. The guide told all kinds of fun facts you won’t hear anywhere else. Practical tips for your Dubai vacation
Dubai transport
Dubai is big, so you can’t avoid using transport. Fortunately, public transport is well organized. The metro is cheap and efficient, and taxis are relatively affordable. For short distances, I recommend taking a taxi or Uber.
Dubai hotels and accommodation
There really is good accommodation in Dubai for every budget. From luxury five-star hotels on the beach to affordable hostels in the city. I stayed in a hotel near the Burj Khalifa myself – super central!
5 tips for great accommodations in Dubai:
- Rove Downtown Dubai – affordable, modern and within walking distance of the Burj Khalifa.
- Atlantis The Palm – an iconic luxury resort with a water park. Perfect for families.
- Premier Inn Dubai Al Jaddaf – good value for money with a pool, ideal for budget travelers.
- Jumeirah Beach Hotel – luxury on the beach, including views of the Burj Al Arab.
- XVA Art Hotel in Al Fahidi – small-scale, charming hotel in the heart of the historic center.
Dubai with children
Dubai is surprisingly child-friendly. Besides water parks, there are playgrounds, zoos, indoor skiing and family-friendly beaches. My tip: choose a hotel with a pool and family rooms, then you always have a backup plan if it gets too hot.
