Nature lovers, attention! Feel like relaxing and walking in nature for a day? Visit the Royal Botanic Gardens; a piece of paradise in the city. It’s Melbourne’s most beautiful park and also home to Victoria’s National Herbarium with 1.2 million dried plants. If you’re a nature lover, I definitely recommend paying a visit to this beautiful park.
Eureka Skydeck 88
The Eureka Tower is a skyscraper located in Melbourne. On the 88th floor you can find Eureka Skydeck 88. From this observation deck you have an amazing view that you really shouldn’t miss, both during the day and at night!
One of the most popular attractions here is ‘The Edge’ – a glass cube that slides out of the building and makes you hover above the city, so to speak! As soon as you step into the cube, the floor becomes transparent and it feels like you’re literally hanging in the air. Tickets for Eureka Skydeck 88 are available both online and at the tower itself.
National Gallery of Victoria and Melbourne Zoo
Art enthusiasts, I can definitely recommend visiting the National Gallery of Victoria. This is the oldest and largest public art museum in Australia where you’ll find an extensive collection of Australian and international artworks. Besides the oldest art museum, Melbourne also has Australia’s oldest zoo. Spot an impressive variety of animals here, including many endangered species. It’s a great place for a family day out!
Queen Victoria Market
Love food and shopping? I thought the Queen Victoria Market was a real gem. This huge outdoor market, the largest in the southern hemisphere, has everything: from delicious food and drinks to fashion and souvenirs. Keep in mind that the market is not open on Mondays.
St Kilda Beach
St Kilda Beach is perfect for a day of sunbathing and swimming. The wide sandy beaches and calm waters make St Kilda ideal for families and water sports enthusiasts. It’s a charming alternative to Bondi Beach, with a wide promenade full of cafés and restaurants. The nearby St Kilda Pier offers stunning views of Melbourne’s skyline—I had a lovely walk here at sunset, and you can even spot penguins!
Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG)
This legendary sports stadium is a must on any sports lover’s bucket list! Visit the National Sports Museum and take a stadium tour to learn more about Australia’s rich sporting history. Check ticket availability in advance, especially around match days, as a sold-out crowd is no exception at the MCG.
