1. Historic center & atmosphere
I started at Piazza Tasso, the beating heart with cozy cafés and the statue of poet Torquato Tasso. Then I wandered through the narrow alleyways, past the Vallone dei Mulini, that mysterious gorge with mill ruins right in the middle of town. The Cattedrale di Sorrento, with its impressive mix of styles and 11th-century doors from Constantinople, was naturally a must-see.
Villa Comunale & views
Highly recommended: a stroll through the gardens of the Villa Comunale, where I enjoyed spectacular views over Vesuvius and islands like Capri. Perfect for sunset and super romantic!
Beaches & harbors
At Marina Grande, the charming fishing harbor, you can taste fresh fish while colorful boats bob in the water. And at Bagni della Regina Giovanna I swam in that idyllic natural ‘pool’ nestled among ancient ruins — romantic overload!

Park outside the centre at P1 or P2, and walk or take the bus into town. Little tip: book accommodation with ‘parking included’.

There are mainly pebble beaches and paid ‘bagni’ beaches, like Marina Grande. For sand you’ll need to go a bit further, such as Meta di Sorrento.
How do you travel from Naples train station to Sorrento?
