Attractions in the authentic center

During the walk, you’ll also encounter the four associated city gates that provide access to the old center.
Of course, you’ll also visit York’s cathedral, the iconic highlight. The so-called York Minster is unmissable and stands right in the center. It is the largest Gothic cathedral in England. The stained glass windows are particularly impressive.
The Shambles
Also known as the Harry Potter street “Diagon Alley,” full of authentic buildings with beautiful wooden beams. The different floors seem to hang over each other. It’s a cozy place to shop among the boutiques, and the traditional Shambles Market is excellent for shopping. Here you’ll find a mix of flea market and fresh market with various food trucks. Cliffords tower

Also fun for young and old, and especially delicious, is chocolate. York has a rich chocolate history, with Terry’s chocolate factory being a part of it.
