It’s a destination where you can travel alone very well, but it’s also a fun place to explore together. It’s a dynamic city with something to do at all times. And the prices are surprisingly reasonable. It’s not as expensive as you might think, but more on that later. There’s also plenty to do in Hong Kong. Think of a boat trip to the Sai Kung islands or a bike ride to the top of Victoria Peak. It’s also a city with a lot of unique street art in the form of murals, and you can endlessly wander the streets around the Quarry Bay Buildings.

Affordable destination for a city trip?
Hong Kong, like many Asian destinations, is a place you can make as expensive as you want. If you’re traveling on a smaller budget, Hong Kong is still a very accessible destination. That’s one of the reasons why Hong Kong is a great city trip destination. Regardless of your budget, everyone can afford a city trip to Hong Kong. Sometimes you have to plan well, but it’s definitely possible.

Flights to Hong Kong
If you don’t want to spend too much, book your flight to Hong Kong at least 3 months in advance. You can then book flights starting at €450. This is a very cheap price and doesn’t happen very often. However, if you can be flexible and aren’t dependent on a specific travel period, there’s a very good chance you can book a round-trip ticket for under €500.
If you’re traveling within a 3-month period or aren’t very flexible with your travel dates, your flight will cost between €700 and €1100. Various flights are offered daily from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. You can choose from both direct flights and flights with a layover. Direct flights take you to Hong Kong in 11 hours and 50 minutes and will cost on average €200 to €300 more than a flight with a layover.
Accommodation in Hong Kong
Hong Kong is a destination you can make as expensive as you want. This also applies to the various accommodations. You can choose from a hostel, a hotel, or an apartment. Did you know that a bed in a hostel often costs as much as a stay in an apartment? You’ll be much more comfortable without having to pay a significant premium. You can book a night in a hostel or a private room in an apartment starting at €35 per night. You’ll also be in the city center of Hong Kong. If you prefer more privacy, you can also book your own apartment. This can be done from €50 per night.
If you’re traveling with someone else, you can share these costs, so you’ll only spend €25 per night.
Hotels can be booked from about €60 per night. You’ll be in an average 3-star hotel. If you settle for less luxury and fewer facilities, a hotel night can also be booked cheaper.
If you have a generous budget during your city trip to Hong Kong and want a luxury experience, Hong Kong has fantastic 5-star hotels that you can book for a very reasonable price. Food and drink in Hong Kong
