One of the first stops is with a silversmith who makes beautiful jewellery. You will see a temple where monks are busy engraving and working with aluminum which is used as decoration for the outside and inside of this beautiful temple. Then you will cycle through the smaller roads in the center to the famous Wat Chedi Luang, which dates back to the 14th century. This temple is best known for its Emerald Buddha, which was housed here since the 15th century.
Now it’s time to go to a women’s prison. This is a special prison and the purpose of this institution is to rehabilitate prisoners who have nearly served their sentence and to ensure that they can have a new life in society. The residents have been imprisoned for light offences, so do not fear. The women come from poor families and many of them are hill-tribe women. From here, you will visit the largest, most beautiful and most visited temple, Wat Pra Singh. This temple houses a very important Buddha statue: the Phra Buddha Sihing.
After this you will cycle to the fish market and you will be surprised by the amount of fish that are sold here. After the fish market you will cycle through Chinatown and here you will see the most beautiful flowers of the north. Then it’s time for the final stop at a local market. While enjoying a snack and a drink you will get an explanation of the many types of fruit and other delicacies that are sold here.
