This magnificent castle has stood in this area since the 17th century and immediately played an important role. The name Keukenhof derives from the fact that all products grown and caught here were destined for consumption in Slot Teylingen, a large castle just south of Lisse. The world-famous park to which tourists from all over the world come every year is partly located on the estate of Keukenhof Castle.

While cycling in the Keukenhof, you will also pass ‘t Huys Dever. This is a so-called donjon, or residential tower. This building dates from the 14th century and one of the few remaining fortifications that survived the 80-year war.
