You’ll pick up your bike in Old Town Alexandria. From there, you’ll cycle about 16 kilometers to Mount Vernon along one of the region’s most scenic bike routes.

The Mount Vernon Trail takes you along the banks of the Potomac River and through peaceful nature areas such as Dyke Marsh Wildlife Preserve and Belle View Park. Thanks to the many trees and the varied landscape, the route feels relaxing and far removed from the hustle and bustle of the city.

When you arrive, park your bike and take your time exploring the historic grounds of Mount Vernon. Stroll through the estate, admire the beautiful gardens, and enjoy the view of the Potomac. If you’d also like to visit the famous mansion, you can purchase a separate admission ticket on site.

After your visit, you’ll cycle back to Alexandria at a leisurely pace. For an additional fee, you can also leave your bike at Mount Vernon and have it picked up there.
