Your excursion starts at our meeting point near the Lavern-Subirats train station. Here, our local colleagues will provide you with a link to a route that you can follow on your mobile phone (so make sure you have a charged battery and data).

You can cycle at your own pace and stop wherever and whenever you want. Follow the route and visit a local and organic winemaker. Here you can taste two wines or cavas, of course, accompanied by a small appetizer. Get to know all facets of this beautiful region.

Bike & Taste: Explore the Catalan Wine Region

Penedès is the largest wine area in Catalonia, where you can find more than 250 winemakers. The Mediterranean climate makes this the ideal place to produce wine and cava. The village of Subirats is also considered the capital of this region and offers some of the most beautiful views. From here, follow the downloaded route and cycle along quiet roads and paths. Explore the numerous vineyards and beautiful villages that the area is rich in. A stop at the village of Sant Pau d’Ordal is an absolute must.

Keep in mind that this region is quite hilly, so the use of an e-bike is recommended. But if you prefer something more sporty, there are also regular bikes and mountain bikes available. 4 hours of bike rental is included, but you can also rent the bikes for longer if desired.

Vooral het eerste deel is mooi en wat uitdagend. De wijnproeverij was ongeveer in het midden van onze tour +/-20km, waardoor we dachten dat we voor het tweede deel evenveel tijd zouden nodig hebben. Helaas, veel langs de weg en naar beneden waardoor er nog weinig te zien was en we snel terug waren. Geniet vooral van het eerste dezl voor de proeverij

We were unlucky, because it was a very rainy day. But we got perfect instructions from Colin about the bike and the route. The route was beautiful, good bikes and the wine tasted very good. Also very kind people at the winery. We had a wonderful day, despite the weather.

We had a great half-day experience, doing the intermediate level bike tour through the Penedès hills, famous for its many cava-producing wineries. The bikes were excellent. We got a tour we could follow on Google Maps. Tip! Do a wine tasting at a relatively new winery in the town of Sebastià del Gorgs, next to the monastery, by the name of El Jardí dels Sentits. High quality wines, for a decent price!
