Olhão bike tour: breathtaking views and local charm
Your route begins at the brand new port of Olhão, where you cycle up the exquisite waterfront. Cycle past the market and the quay where the iconic fishing boat “Bom Sucesso” is docked. As you continue cycling along the Carreiras quay, you will have the opportunity to admire the picturesque islands of the Ria Formosa, including Faro, Hangares, Culatra and Armona. From the Nautical Club (GNO), past the fishing port and industrial area, you will be introduced to the heart of the city.
Before cycling into the Ria Formosa Natural Park, we pass some beautiful salt pans. The Ecovia, which passes by the original Bias railroad crossing, leads us to Fuseta, also called “Fozeta. Here you will admire the lively fishing quarter with its colorful houses, the charming church and the beautiful village center. Don’t forget to take a break at the “Borda d’Água” café for refreshments!
The way back to Olhão takes you past a variety of neighborhoods, including the Panther Quarter and the important Main Street. You will continue cycling past the courthouse and the picturesque Commercial Street before finally ending up back at the markets and returning to the Marina, where the adventure ends.
