This route is suitable for beginner mountain bikers, but also definitely for experienced mountain bikers because we can make the route as challenging as you want.

We will meet at the location of our store, where we will calmly explain and give you tips about cycling with our mountain bikes. Then we take you to the place where our Madeira bike tour begins, at 1400 meters altitude in Poiso. There our unforgettable experience starts with a short climb and we get an idea of the level of the group.

Madeira bike tour: paradise for mountain bikers

Now the Madeira bike ride is about to begin. Based on the estimation of the level of the group, we decide to cycle leisurely on unpaved roads, or we tackle some accessible single trails. Due to the unique location and elevation of the island, we can combine different types of mountain bike trails. In a few hours we cycle alternately through fields, through forests, on unpaved roads, on trails and through the rainforest, ending through small villages. That makes this experience for mountain bikers absolutely unique, and for mountain bike fans an absolute must-do experience.

Little by little we descend to 850 meters altitude while you are amazed by the magnificent views of the ocean and landscape.

Part two of the popular Madeira bike tour takes you for 20 kilometers through beautiful, green surroundings. We cycle right through nature, consisting of forests of laurel, eucalyptus and pines. Then we cycle along the levada (canal) and through the town of Camacha. Near Camacha, we will stop at a typical bar for a refreshing drink and a small snack (not included). After this break, we continue the tour. The last part of this unique experience is 10 kilometers, leisurely downhill on a “normal” asphalt road.

You can easily book online and pay only on the spot. The Madeira bike tour takes place on mountain bikes. It is doable for mountain bikers with good physical condition and reasonable mastery of the bike, for hardtail and full-suspension mountain bikes. Moreover, the tour is suitable for beginners and absolutely interesting for advanced mountain bikers to discover the island.

We ride Radon ZR Team 2.0 | 27″ Mountain bikes (included). If you prefer to bike on a Radon Slide 150 9.0 | 27.5″, you can (surcharge €10,-). About the duration of the tour: we cycle about 2.5 hours.

The route includes some relatively wide trails with minor obstacles such as roots and rocks. Most of the route is downhill, with a small climb here and there. This experience can be booked for participants 15 years and older and 5-foot-5.
