Discover this stunning island on the Madeira mountain bike tour. Welcome to the ultimate mountain biking paradise in the Atlantic Ocean!
This route is suitable for beginner mountain bikers, but it’s definitely also great for experienced mountain bikers, because we can make the route as challenging as you’d like.
We’ll meet at our store, where we’ll take the time to explain everything and give you tips on riding our mountain bikes. Then we’ll take you to the starting point of our Madeira bike tour, at an elevation of 1,400 meters in Poiso. There, our unforgettable experience begins with a short climb, which will give us a sense of the group’s skill level.
Madeira Bike Tour: A Paradise for Mountain Bikers
Now the Madeira bike tour is about to begin. Based on our assessment of the group’s skill level, we’ll decide whether to take it easy on unpaved roads or tackle a few accessible single trails. Thanks to the island’s unique location and elevation changes, we can combine different types of mountain bike routes. In a few hours, we’ll cycle through fields, forests, along unpaved roads, on trails, and through the rainforest, ending our ride through small villages. This makes the experience absolutely unique for mountain bikers and an absolute must-do for mountain bike enthusiasts.
We descend gradually to an altitude of 850 meters as you marvel at the breathtaking views of the ocean and the landscape.
Part two of the popular Madeira bike tour takes you through 20 kilometers of stunning, green scenery. We’ll bike right through nature, passing through forests of laurel, eucalyptus, and pine trees. We’ll then cycle along the levada (canal) and through the town of Camacha. Near Camacha, we’ll stop at a typical bar for a refreshing drink and a light snack (not included). After this break, we’ll continue the tour. The final stretch of this unique experience is 10 kilometers—a relaxed downhill ride on a “regular” paved road.
