There are some easy routes, but for the advanced hiker there are also routes that are heavier and longer. Below you can read more information about the different routes.

• Western Table to Maclears Beacon: 2 hours – Easy hike on the Table Mountain plateau. This route starts with a ride in the cable car. Once at the top, you can enjoy 360-degree views of the city, Lions Head and the mountain itself. The trail continues to Maclears Beacon, which is the highest point. This is a pleasant walk mostly flat with great views.
• Platteklip Gorge: 2-3 hours – easy to moderate hiking along the most popular route. This route begins with a steep hike. The long staircase to the top is one of the most popular hiking options. Then you can enjoy 360-degree views of the city, Lions Head and the mountain itself.
• India Window: 2-3 hours – Moderate to Weak a route. This route begins with a short hike along the face of the mountain. India Window offers adventure trekkers an exciting challenge for those fit enough to scramble up some steep rocky slopes. For two-thirds of the route, the trail follows that of the cable car. Then it will turn and offer stunning views of Lion’s Head, Signal Hill and the Atlantic Ocean and Camps Bay below.
• Twelve Apostles on the Table Mountain Plateau: 4-6 hours -An easy route with several views. The climb on Castle Gate zigzags its way up through a partially shaded gorge beneath the overhanging walls of Spring Buttress. You will be rewarded with views of the Twelve Apostles and across the Atlantic coast. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the Valley of the Red Gods and the Valley of Isolation. Finally, continue with a pleasant hike to the upper cable car station.
