During the Gouda Bike Tour, the enthusiastic guide will take you past windmills, lakes and cheese farms. Discover the connection between the historic city center and the green
countryside surrounding it. The tour starts at De Roode Leeuw. This is the largest, working mill in town! The next mill is located a little further next to the old city wall. The route continues along the Hollandsche IJssel to the Haastrecht Mill. This is one of the few polder mills with a signal bridge. Optionally, it is possible to visit a cheese farm and taste the homemade cheese!

The route goes through the beautiful Steinse Groen and then on to the Reeuwijkse Plassen. Peat used to be cut here for the breweries and factories, but nowadays this is a breathtaking nature reserve with a diversity of water birds.Time seems to have stood still here. You cycle on roads where there are no cars, extra fun and safe! Via various polder roads you cycle back to the market square where you will see the most famous highlights of the city.

We have already done many tours with Baya Bikes in Madrid, Rome, Valencia, Rotterdam, and Maastricht. Always great. This time, the Gouda tour was a bit disappointing because the guide only stopped at 4 or 5 points to tell us something. The rest of the tour was just a matter of pedaling hard along a substantial cycle route across the Reeuwijkse Plassen. We could have mapped this out ourselves using the cycling route network. It's a shame we only stopped there once for a photo. We cycled past a birdwatching point, but the guide just cycled right past it. If we had known that, we would have preferred to rent bikes ourselves and mapped out our own route. Apparently, this area doesn't have as much to offer as the others, which is a pity, and that is why it was a letdown. Still, we had a very nice afternoon though. The guide was fine otherwise; what he told us was interesting.
